CHRISTMAS ADOPTIONS
DAISYMAE
3 Yr. S.F. Purebred Weimaraner loves her family and is
housetrained, obedience trained and totally indoor dog. Her family is
moving to a rental that does not take dogs and she has
found a new permanent
home with Jeff in Arizona He has raised his kids, had large dogs all his
life, and is home all day, can take her to the lake and training!. Denise,
Daisy is settling in well. She was still looking for familiar faces last night, and it took her quite a while to go to sleep, but now is laying in the sun on the deck, just played a little fetch and went for a walk to the lake this AM. I can tell that whatever training she had has long since worn off, that she has been allowed on any and all furniture, does some begging, etc. So we'll start over with classes next week. I started her on healing and sitting this morning.
I'm also sure the scrape on her hip will leave a scar but it appears to be healing well. I got her a new kennel today so I'll ship yours back to you on the Greyhound Bus tomorrow. Do you know if there is just one bus station in SLC or is there one closer to you?
She is doing great and I'm sure we'll be the best of friends, she's
very affectionate and really wants to please. Thanks again for all your assistance.
Jeff
This is the kind of home
and reference letter we love for our dogs: Dear
Denise,
Nancy has asked me to write you concerning the adoption of Daisy
Mae. My name is Sandy Sachs and I am a licensed instructor and
evaluator for Delta Society, and the leader of Tucson Area Pet partners,
(TAPP). Nancy and I met shortly after both of us became Pet
Partners, probably the early part of 1998, when we were both helpers
during team testing for the original Pet Partners training group here in
Tucson. Since TAPP began in 2001, Nancy has been a member of the
group assisting me with both classes, and testing. She has
experience doing initial dog assessments, and can give teams tips on
training to prepare them for testing, as well as information about dog
care.
She is a delightful, high energy, dog lover! Two of her three dogs
have done obedience work, one of them is now doing aglility, and the
third visits as a Pet Partner. She is very knowledgable about dog
health, and has been quick to spot problems with her dogs, and get them
the care they require. Her dogs are members of her family, and
Daisy Mae couldn't find a better home, she will have love, companions,
work, and care. For a dog, it doesn't get much better than that!
I have attached a letter she emailed me while waiting for the vet to
come to her home to put down her beloved Max. I think this letter
will tell you more about Nancy's heart for dogs, than anything I could
possibly write.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Sandy Sachs

BOBIN:
I'm just barely one year old and still a bit of a puppy. I'm a BORDER
COLLIE/ mix
and I was the runt of the litter. If you know your breeds,
you'll know that those are two of the smartest breeds. For the
most part, I don't let my smarts get me into trouble. I do use my
smarts to ask for what I want. I like it if you leave hooves
out for me to chew on at night if I get restless. I have a great
temperament and am happiest when your hands are petting me. If
your not petting me and I want you to, I'll rub my head against you hand
or leg. You can see from the pictures, I like to have my belly
rubbed. I'm great with children. However, I have a habit of
teasing my other canine companions. I like to jump over their
backs even though I know they don't like it. I'm a bit of a tease
that way. I love treats but won't play until I've received the
affection I want. I've learned to do the following and love to be
rewarded with treats: "sit", "lay",
"shake", "outside" and "go to bed".
I'm still learning not to pull on the leash when we go for walks. Thank
you Traci and family for fostering him and wanting to train your Border
Collie and Bobin in fun tricks with your little girl. How responsible
you guys are, with all new fenced in yard, two crates to crate train,
Spayed female already and loving these dogs in your home. Thanks
for adopting her permanently into your home and bringing her to our fun
kids class in Park City to get her condidence up. Like many
unsocialized Border Collie females, she is too shy around
strangers. But thanks to Traci teaching her fun tricks with the
kids and puppies, she is coming out of her shell and feeling more
comfortable.
CHUBBY 6 yr. M Wirehaired Dachshund mix little tan lover. Great retired adult companion. Crate=training. Lee and his little female Dachshund and cats just love Chubby, he sleeps on Lee's bed.
BUTCH
:
I'm two years old and I was named Butch because I'm stocky and strong.
I'm a BASSETTE/BOXER
mix
but most people think I'm right out of a cartoon because my looks are so
out of the ordinary and adorable. People can't help but fall in
love with me when they see me. I'm smart and mostly past the puppy
stage. I've learned to be patient and careful so that I don't
accidentally bite anyone when they give me treats. Just don't
tease me with treats because I get so excited about food, especially
doggy treats, that I might forget my manners. I have a huge
appetite so don't over feed me and if there is another dog around, you
need to kennel us up at feeding time so that I don't get the idea that
all the food was put out for me. I love to do tricks and have
mastered: "sit", "lay", "shake",
"outside" and "go to bed". I love the outdoors
and enjoy coming in at nights. I'm so smart that as a puppy I was
potty trained between Christmas and New Years. The only problems
I've ever had are when my human companions forget to let me out in the
morning. I've never been alone for very long since I've grown up
with at least one other dog around. I love human companions and am
always excited to see them. I may cry or pitch a short fit if you
don't want to play when I do but I've never been destructive. Boy
he really is "Mellow" "loving with all dogs, kids
and people" and the size and height of a Bassett Hound but
tan. Thanks
Teresa for adopting him Christmas.
Buddy was adopted at our Home for the Homless by Cammie and her family that adopted Shasta from us 2 years ago! Thanks you guys! Buddy and Shasta hit it off immediately. She will take Buddy to a trainer in Park City too! And she knows how to crate-train. We love these loving and responsible families. Update: Weston and Buddy have been working hard in Kids Club, and Buddy not only jumps the agility bar, sits, stays, and pays attention so well, but now he is learning how to Skateboard! Great job Weston!
*TILLIE a 5 yr. S.F. Chihuahua is crate-training, very calm, loves every person and dog. Loves to cuddle under the covers or on your lap. Needs a mature home to be lapdog with no children. She is fragile and does well with therapeutic massages due to her weak knees in the back.. She just came through her mammo tumor operation beautifully, her prior owners did not take care to spay her, and now she has tumors. Thanks Dr. Daines and team. Thank You Pat, director of the Christian Center, for adopting her.
SNUGGLES Thank you Betsy of The Colby School for inviting your friend to adopt this cute little boy.

What is Save A Dog & Kids Program about? PAWSITIVE PRAISE FOR PEACE! Were you aware that donations for Charity and Youth Programs in 2002/2003 are so low that not only food, clothes and necessities are needed, but all After School Programs for Homeless and Under-priviledged kids have been cut. Federal research on Anti-gang, Anti-drugs, Anti-violence and Anti-juvenile delinquency states that the most successful deterants are After School Programs with positive activities for kids. Kids commit most of the crimes during the hours after school. Help us bring positive activities to the underpriviledged kids Youth Programs,YMCA After School Programs, Youth Detention Centers and other youth facilities all over the US.

A HUMANE EDUCATION TODAY, YIELDS A MORE COMPASSIONATE SOCIETY TOMORROW In our program kids learn compassion, responsibility and service through helping train and care for homeless puppies. They learn the benefits of positive praise and the rewarding satisfaction of training a helpless puppy. They gain confidence, self esteem and many more values that will help them in their lives. What a perfect match: Kids and Dogs! Donations, volunteers and sponsors are desperately needed. |
