North Carolina Voters for Animal Welfare is a statewide organization dedicated to the protection of animals through legislation and public policy. We are a political lobbying organization and hope to become a lobbying presence at the General Assembly and at the county level in several counties throughout North Carolina.
The main issue NCVAW is currently working on is the promotion of the North Carolina Companion Animal Act of 2004, which is based on the recommendations of the NC House Interim Committee on the Prevention and Disposition of Unwanted and Abandoned Companion Animals and the Intervention of Animal Cruelty. We will be actively lobbying for the passage of this vital legislation to control companion animal overpopulation and reduce the associated taxpayer expense. More information.
Read NCVAW's Open Letter to members of the Interim Committee.
